The Top 10 Most Common Items Stolen from Hotel Rooms

The Top 10 Most Common Items Stolen From Hotel Rooms

Most travelers and holiday makers book a hotel room because they love the view out the window and the stylish décor inside. While the majority of hotel guests simply enjoy the expensive furnishings and items while they are actually in the room, some people decide that these tastefully selected fixtures would look just as great in their own homes subsequently cramming as much nice stuff as possible into their suitcases and hoping no one notices!

Here are the top 10 most common items stolen from hotel rooms - some of them may surprise you.

Towels are the most common item stolen from hotel rooms, and you can understand why. Most hotels provide incredibly soft, luxurious and comforting towels that just feel so good wrapped around your body. Most hotels replenish the room's towels on a daily basis, so guests assume they won't miss a couple of Egyptian cotton towels.

Is there anything more comfortable to relax in than a lush & fluffy bathrobe. After a nice shower it feels great to wrap the soft bathrobe around you and lie on the super-comfy Egyptian cotton bedding , while you wait for your other half to get ready. The bathrobe is almost always stolen, because quite frankly it is better than the old raggedy one they have back home.

This isn't the most obvious thing to steal, but yep you guessed it, hotel guests have been helping themselves to silverware. Travelers have slipped knives, forks, spoons & steak knives into their suitcases, so they can upgrade their cutlery draw back home.

Slipping on a pair of snug slippers makes the walk from the hotel room to the spa so much nicer. Having comfortable feet is obviously high on hotel guests agendas, as slippers are one of the most common hotel items that find their way into travelers' bags.

Everyone's walked into a hotel room and been filled with joy when they see the mini-bar, but then been brought crashing back down when they realise it wasn't included in the price of the room. While this isn't the usual type of physical theft, hotel guests have been getting inventive in their ways to steal mini-bar booze drinking the alcohol and then refilling the bottles with water, juice, and bodily fluids, all so they don't have to pay.

You never know when you're going to have guests staying over at your house, so it's always good to have a few extra pillows. Most top end hotels provide pillow menus which are filled with some of the most comfortable pillows you will ever lay your head one so it isn't surprising that these are stolen so often.

Whenever you check into an amazing hotel, one of the first things you notice is how soft the bed sheets & linens are and just how good the curtains are at blocking out that strong bright sunshine. So you've had the best week's sleep you've ever had, you might be interested in how much these specific Egyptian cotton sheets costs, so you look them up, or you do as some guests actually do and just steal the linens and even the curtains.

Most hotel rooms have lovely paintings on the wall or interesting artwork on the bedside table. While most people see these and think they look nice, others think they'll look just as nice in my living room. Yep that's right, people have been known to steal artwork from hotel rooms I have an inkling that someone might notice.

As soon as you step in to your hotel room's bathroom your eyes are immediately drawn towards the tiny toiletry bottles shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, moisturiser, face wash, etc. These tiny bottles are often scooped up and dropped into a person's wash bag, so that their bodies can smell like the beach when they get home.

Batteries are items that no one really wants to buy. We'd rather just find some in a draw, or transfer them from product to product or simply just take them from the remote controls in hotel rooms. Have you ever wondered why your hotel TV won't respond to the remote? Check the back of the control and you'll have your answer.

So there you have it, the top 10 most common items stolen from hotel rooms. You may be one of these people who steals the odd item, but you should always remember that the hotel has an immaculate record of who stayed in each room and the levels of stock each day.
